In less than three months, thousands of people will convene in the City of Brotherly Love for the 2016 Democratic National Convention. if you happen to be traveling with a dog, we have some suggestions for you.



With miles of trails, numerous dog parks, and ample outdoor dining options, Philadelphia has become a one-of-a-kind urban paradise for pups.

Exploring: Whether it’s a stroll down our cobblestone streets or a hike through Fairmount Park, Philadelphia is loaded with places to explore. For an adventure filled with skyline views, open space, and plenty of four-legged friends to play with, visit the Schuylkill River Park Dog Run. Located in Filter Square at 25th and Spruce Streets, The Schuylkill River Park Dog Run offers separate areas for large and small dogs, both equipped with K9-friendly AstroTurf, biodegradable poop bags, and more.

For even more dog-friendly exploring options, try any of these: Seger Dog Park, Mario Lanza Park, Market Street Dog Run, Rittenhouse Square, Washington Square, or Fairmount Park.

Dining: After a long day of exploring, you and your pup will probably need to grab a bite to eat, and maybe even a drink (humans only)! No worries. Philly offers several alfresco dining options that welcome our four-legged friends. Parc and Rouge are great upscale choices that offer outdoor dining across from Rittenhouse Square. If you find yourself wondering around Washington Square looking for a quick bite, try Talula’s Daily or Independence Beer Garden. And if you just want to relax in a hammock at one of the best urban beaches in America, then you’re in luck! Spruce Street Harbor Park is an outdoor oasis on the Delaware River that offers a handful of food and drink options, along with plenty of family-friendly activities.
