PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Philadelphia 2016 Host Committee for the Democratic National Convention today announced the launch of the Host Committee’s online merchandise store, the Official Merchandise Store for the Philadelphia 2016 Host Committee. The store can be accessed at www.phldncshop.com. Each of the products sold in the store include the Host Committee’s logo as well as imagery created by local artists and will serve as mementos of Philadelphia’s time hosting the 2016 Democratic National Convention. The Host Committee has contracted Impact Dimensions LLC to be responsible for all aspects, including manufacturing, storing and selling, of all Host Committee merchandise. Photos of some of the merchandise are attached.
“The Host Committee’s online merchandise store will allow members of the public to easily access fun mementos and memorabilia that commemorate Philadelphia hosting the 2016 Democratic National Convention,” said Kevin Washo, Executive Director of the Philadelphia 2016 Host Committee. “Designed by local artists, our merchandise will serve as keepsakes that Convention guests, Philadelphians and visitors will be able to take home with them to remind them of this historic event in Philadelphia.”
“We are excited about the new website launch and the robust variety of merchandise we will offer to both convention attendees and political fans alike,” said Luis Liceaga, President of Impact Dimensions LLC. “This new site will provide everyone the opportunity to get themselves a bit of the Philadelphia flair.”
The merchandise will include eight different styles of adult unisex tee-shirts, two different styles of youth tee-shirts, baseball caps, mugs, coasters, commemorative coins and other items such as lip balm, candies and mints.
All merchandise will depict Philadelphia and its history in fun, unique images. Impact Dimensions worked with seven artists to design the images shown on the merchandise; six of the artists are from Philadelphia, including:
- Sean Olubodum of Duke & Winston
- Dan Duffy of Philly Wood Art
- Brett Bender of BBender27Arts
- Dominique Streater of Dom Streater
- Michael Fulkerson of Doyle + Associates
- Mary Dougherty, owner of two Nicole Miller stores in Philadelphia, in collaboration with Bender and Lindsey Strippoli
The seventh artist, LisaBeth Weber of Cause Pins, is based in New Hope, PA and has designed pins that have been worn by Hillary Clinton, Gloria Steinem, and Madeleine Albright.
Norbert McGettigan, Jr., Chief Operating Officer of Impact Dimensions LLC said, “Our team made sure every product was made and printed in the USA. Whenever possible we worked with Pennsylvania and regional suppliers. For example, one of our most prominent items is the Host Committee commemorative coin, which was sourced and manufactured in Pennsylvania.”
All of the Host Committee merchandise is “made in America,” having been designed and manufactured in the United States. Many of the items, such as the t-shirts, buttons, lapel pins, coasters, magnets and key rings, are union-made or -decorated.
In addition to the online store, the Host Committee will have a brick and mortar merchandise store at the Comcast Center, which will open on June 29th, as well as a store at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, which will open on the first day of PoliticalFest, July 22nd.
The Democratic National Convention will take place in Philadelphia July 25-28, 2016.
